ABOUT NANCY

I graduated from the University of Chicago in 1990 with a Masters in Social Service Administration (M.S.W. equivalent) and later provided individual, couples and family therapy at Jewish Family and Community Services for 7 years. Then, adding a mind-body component to my work, I studied Hypnotherapy at the Wellness Institute in Seattle and became an Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist. I received further clinical training while working as a Group therapist at Linden Oaks Psychiatric Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. There, I led groups like Stress Management, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Expressive Therapy and Anger Management for recently hospitalized people and helped them transition back into their lives. Within the last few years, I have added Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy to my skill set and have found it invaluable in helping couples find their way back to loving each other. Success in Couples Therapy used to take many years but E.F.T. is a much more efficient approach with lasting results. Finally, In 2012, I received my Certificate in Art Therapy from Northwestern University. Art is a wonderful way to help people express their feelings when they can’t talk about them.

I am an intuitive and creative thinker who has had much success treating business professionals, artists, engineers, lawyers, physicians and stay-at home parents.

I treat both adults and teens ages 14 on up and work exceptionally well with highly sensitive or creative people who feel misunderstood by others. I appreciate the struggles being highly creative or sensitive brings to so many and understands the benefits as well.

I love my work and would be happy to answer any questions you have if you are interested in schcduling an appointment for individual, couple or group counseling.

Bibliotherapy

Over the years, some people have found books to be great companions for our work so I have compiled this bibliotherapy list as a companion to therapy.
